The CBD of OCHO Amsterdam

OCHO Amsterdam is one of the few CBD producers that is able to say that we manage the entire production chain from seed to product. We are not a reseller. Research and product development takes place in Amsterdam by the world's best scientists. Our crops are grown in Colorado (United States) where we use substances with a high CBD content. OCHO Amsterdam guarantees products that contain 0.0% THC and contribute to your well-being.

What is CBD Oil?

CBD is OCHO's main ingredient that contributes to finding your natural balance. CBD is the abbreviation for Cannabidiol. One of the 113 known cannabinoids found in hemp. CBD is anti-inflammatory and has an anti-oxidative effect. CBD is not psychoactive, no “high” effect can occur, such as with recreational use.

What is the difference between CBD oil and THC oil?

CBD oil, THC oil, hemp oil and cannabis oil are commonly used terms that one comes across online when searching for cannabinoid products. It is important here to distinguish between the hemp plant and the cannabis plant. Although they share the same ancestor, namely the Cannabis Sativa L., they differ considerably in their applications and active substances. Hemp has been used for thousands of years for various purposes such as the production of paper, textiles and personal care products. Industrial hemp is a legal crop and is also grown in the Netherlands. Hemp plants have a high percentage of CBD. This makes industrial hemp well suited for the production of CBD oil. Recreational cannabis is best known for its association with getting “stoned”. The plant contains high concentrations of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which provides the psychoactive effect. THC oil is not freely tradable in the Netherlands. Products such as THC oil are only available on prescription. OCHO Amsterdam produces CBD products where the oil is extracted from industrial hemp from Colorado, the United States. This hemp is rich in CBD and OCHO Amsterdam removes the THC from its products.

Human Cannabinoids Receptors

Cannabinoid receptors are located throughout the human body and are part of our endocannabinoid system responsible for a variety of physiological processes in our body such as appetite, sleep, the immune system, pain perception, mood and memory.
  • CB1 - Receptors that are mainly found in the brain and nervous system, but also in smaller quantities in our organs.
  • CB2 - Found mainly in our organs and cells responsible for the immune system.
  • TRPV1 - Receptors that are concentrated in our blood, bone, marrow, tongue, liver, kidneys, stomach and ovaries.
  • TRPV2 - Receptors that are concentrated in our skin, muscles, kidneys, stomach and lungs.
  • GPR119 - Receptors found in the pancreas and in small amounts in the intestinal tract.
  • GPR55 - Receptors that can be found in our bones and the brain, as well as in the fasting intestine and the meander.
  • GPR18 - Receptors found in bone marrow, spleen, lymph nodes and in small amounts in the testicles.
  • TRPV3 - Receptors found in the nerves in human skin.

What is the difference between Full spectrum, Broad spectrum and Pure CBD Oil?

The hemp plant contains more than 113 cannabinoids. CBD and THC are by far the most well-known, but CBG and CBN are also becoming increasingly known. Simply put, the terms Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum and Pure help to indicate the extent to which cannabinoids and other components of the hemp plant are present in the product. Because there are no regulations regarding these names, producers are free to choose which term they use. In general, Full Spectrum products contain all cannabinoids including THC, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids. OCHO Amsterdam distinguishes itself in this and is unique. Our proprietary purification process allows us to remove THC.OCHO Amsterdam ensures that you do not have to worry about a positive THC result in drug tests for, for example, driving or exercising. While you can still enjoy the benefits of our Full Spectrum CBD oil. Broad Spectrum is often used to indicate that the product contains all elements except THC. CBD Pure or isolate only contains CBD where other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids are missing. Because terpenes have a supportive effect, OCHO has created a series that support specific balance in the body.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a class of natural compounds. These are important in maintaining the health of flowers and plants. Not only do these provide protection against harmful bacteria, fungi and pests, but also attract pollinators such as bees. In daily life, we recognize terpenes mainly for their delicious scent. The unique aromas of lemon, orange, lavender and hemp plants are due to terpenes.

What is the effect of terpenes?

In addition to unique aromas, terpenes play a role in influencing the way we taste, smell and feel when a plant, herb or fruit is used.

Enkele bekende terpenen zijn:

    • Limonene
A terpene that is widely used in perfumes and cosmetics. As the name suggests, it provides a lime-like aroma. This terpene is mainly found in citrus fruit, but is also present in the hemp plant. Limonene exhibits anxiety reducing properties and stimulates the immune system (Komori et al., 19951).
    • Mycreen
The most prominent terpene in hemp plants . This is responsible for the strong hop aroma that dry hopped beers have. This terpene can also be found in sage, wild thyme and bay leaf. Myrcene is recognized as an anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and anxiety-reducing (Cleemput et al., 20092).
    • Alpha-Pinene
Is mainly recognizable by the pine scent, it is therefore found in conifers, eucalyptus and rosemary. Alpha-Pinene is one of the most common mounds along with Limonene. Alpha-Pinene is an acetylcholine esterase (enzyme that breaks down neurotransmitters) inhibitor and can therefore support memory capacity (Kennedy et al., 20113).
    • Beta-Caryophyllene
Has a spicy, woody and sweet scent. It is mainly found in cloves, oregano and basil. Beta-Caryophyllene has anti-inflammatory and gastro-protective properties (Singh and Sharma, 20155).

    • Linalool

The floral aroma of Linalool is quickly recognizable and is mainly found in lavender. Linalool is also found in mint, cinnamon and some citrus fruits. The properties of Linalool are described as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and sedative (Russo, 20114 ).
